- Does this person really want my opinion, or do they just want me to listen?
Sometimes people need to hear themselves talk, and other times, they truly seek an opinion.
- Is this person hurting or is something else going on?
Be aware that not everyone feels the way you do.
- Is this conversation adding value to either of us?
Empathy expresses true concern for someone.
- Will this conversation add to more understanding between us?
Other points of view can help you understand your own.
